a bird's eye view
of this world
we hold so dear
millions of people
living in fear
trying to be themselves
overcoming obstacles
in their lives
is it hard to love
or is love hard to find
i will survive
i'll be just fine

surrounded myself with
pain and deceit
becoming the opposite
of what I really should be

i'm struggling within the confines
of my mind
trying to find some peace of mind
i'm lost upon these haunted shores
here comes the tide
wash me out
hang me out to dry
i need an awakening
help me realize

there's a beacon
i'm coming home
the waves will take me
i'm not alone
the fortress walls

i look to the distance
to hear my call

finally I see the light
the darkness no longer is disguised

i look up to the vastness
above with the stars
realizing this is
just how we all are
being human sometimes
feels like catastrophe
when all we are trying
is to be the best we can be
